How Eva Pregnancy Journal handles information in the app and when you choose online features.
About Eva
Eva Pregnancy Journal is a private, local-first pregnancy journal and doctor-visit preparation helper. It helps you keep pregnancy memories, notes, voice recordings, transcripts, appointments, discussion points and visit summaries.
Most core journal data stays in Eva-controlled storage on your device. Eva also uses online services for protected backend functions and optional cloud AI and transcription features that you choose to use.
Information Stored On Your Device
Depending on the features you use, Eva may store the following information locally:
- pregnancy profile and timeline information;
- journal entries, typed notes and memories;
- voice and audio recordings saved by Eva;
- transcripts and transcript status;
- appointment dates, times, doctor or clinic details and appointment notes;
- discussion points, visit summaries and doctor-preparation material;
- app preferences and settings; and
- temporary app-controlled export files.
Android automatic app backup is disabled for Eva. Clearing app data or uninstalling Eva may remove local data.
Eva does not provide a public profile or public community. No analytics SDK or advertising SDK is included in the current app.
When Information Leaves Your Device
Information can leave your device in the following circumstances:
- when you enable and use one of Eva's optional cloud AI and transcription features, including consent-enabled automatic discussion-point preparation;
- when Firebase authenticates a protected request or verifies app integrity;
- when you copy, share, save or export information; or
- when limited technical information is processed to secure, troubleshoot or rate-limit an online request.
Eva does not automatically upload saved notes or recordings merely because the app opens, refreshes or connects to the internet.
Optional Cloud AI And Transcription Features
Cloud AI processing is optional and requires the applicable AI consent setting. Some requests begin when you select an AI or transcription action. If you enable automatic AI processing, Eva may also prepare discussion points after related content is updated for an upcoming visit.
Depending on the feature, the content sent may include a voice or audio recording, transcript text, journal text, selected entries or discussion points. Eva sends only the content needed for the enabled feature through its secure backend to the configured AI or transcription service provider. The processing produces transcription, organization, discussion-point or visit-preparation results that return to the app for review.
Manual notes and manual transcript editing remain available. AI-generated and transcribed content may contain mistakes or omissions, so review it before relying on or sharing it.
Each provider handles submitted content under its own terms and policies. Retention may vary. Eva does not promise a fixed provider retention period or guarantee that a provider never uses submitted content for model improvement.
Anonymous Technical Identifier And App Integrity
Eva does not require you to create a traditional account with an email address, username or password. For protected cloud functions, Firebase Anonymous Authentication automatically creates an anonymous technical identifier for the app installation.
Firebase ID tokens authenticate protected requests. Firebase App Check and Google Play Integrity information help Eva and Firebase verify that requests come from an authentic app installation and help prevent abuse. These security mechanisms may process technical app, device-integrity and request information.
Free Release
Eva v1.0.0 is offered without a paid subscription. The current release does not present prices, trials, purchase or restore controls, or subscription-management actions, and it does not use subscription verification as part of normal free operation.
Service Providers
Eva uses service providers where needed to operate protected online features:
- Firebase Authentication for the anonymous technical identifier;
- Firebase App Check and Google Play Integrity for app-integrity and abuse protection;
- Cloudflare Worker and KV for backend processing, security and rate limiting; and
- configured AI or transcription service providers for cloud processing enabled through your chosen AI mode or feature.
Eva sends information to these providers for the relevant service function. Each provider's handling is governed by its applicable terms and policies.
Data Retention And Deletion
Local data remains on your device until you delete it, clear Eva's app data or uninstall Eva. You can delete supported individual records or use Vault → Privacy and support → Delete all app data to remove supported Eva-controlled local data.
Delete all app data removes supported local data only. It does not delete the Firebase anonymous technical identifier or automatically delete security and request records held by service providers. See Delete Your Eva Data for details.
Backend and platform records may be kept as needed to protect security, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and meet applicable obligations. How long a record is kept depends on its type and the relevant provider or legal requirement. Eva does not apply one fixed retention period to every category.
Exported copies remain under the control of the person, app, device or service that received them.
Exports And Sharing
You can choose to copy, share or export summaries and other supported information. Eva does not automatically send visit summaries to a doctor or clinic.
When you share or export information, the destination you choose receives the copy. That recipient's own privacy and retention practices then apply.
Security
Eva uses encrypted connections for cloud traffic. Protected backend routes use Firebase authentication, App Check, authorization, request validation and access controls. Diagnostics are designed to avoid logging journal content or complete authentication tokens.
No technical system can guarantee absolute security. Protecting information stored locally also depends on the security of your device and any destination to which you export or share information.
Medical Disclaimer
Eva helps you record memories and organize information for appointments. It is not a medical device or healthcare provider.
Eva does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition. It does not determine whether symptoms or test results are normal, healthy or risky; interpret scans or laboratory results; recommend medication; or replace professional medical care.
For medical questions, urgent symptoms or concerns about your pregnancy, contact your doctor, maternity unit, local emergency number or emergency services.
Changes To This Policy
This policy may be updated when Eva's features, service providers or legal obligations change. The current version and its last-updated date will be published on this page.
